Happy Friday and Happy Holidays!!!

Happy Friday everyone! Today is the starting of a long holiday for me. I'm getting ready to see my friends and families in Japan. After receiving lots of yummy treats and warm holiday cards and greetings from friends, I feel the full force of holiday spirits : ) I'm thankful for all your love and support in 2011! Wishing you warm and happy holidays with your friends and families too. 


Here is a picture of my x'mas gift for my co-workers. I learnt the candy wrapping idea from rock scissor paper ("getting creative with coasters".) I got their swirly coasters at Unique LA. 
Instead of cookies, I stuffed with hershey's chocolates, japanese sweets and candies.

I also made some chiffon cup cakes and wrapped with swirly candy pattern gift bags.

Happy Friday / ハッピーフライデー

We had a guest from Germany at work. He wanted a hamburger so we took him to RUBY'S by the beach. After lunch, we went to get another America's popular sweet at Krispy Kreme. 

I love the very American graphics they use.  

ドイツから出張に来たゲストと一緒にランチ。ハンバーガーが食べたいというので、海の側のアメリカっぽいハンバーガー屋さん、RUBY'Sに行く事に。その後のデザートもアメリカ定番のクリスピークリームへ。クリスピークリームの色使いは、アメリカ〜という感じがして見ていてわくわくする。

My friend Gozen brought me a box of baked donuts from Beach City Baked Donuts. I've been wanting to try their donuts and she read my mind. Their donuts are baked, not deep fried. Their basic honey drip donut is 150 calories(Glazed donut from Krispy creme is 200 calories.) Texture is almost like Japanese mini Castella sponge cake and it feels lighter and healthier. 

I checked out their website and found that they offer about 20 flavors (offering changes daily.)

Gozen chose 6 different flavors for me (thank you!!) Apricot was my today's pick♪

お友達のGozenさんが、Beach City Baked Donutsの揚げていないドーナツをお土産に持って来てくれました＾＾　前々から気になっていたので感激。名前の通り揚げていないので、どちらかというと日本のミニカステラのような生地でヘルシーな印象。ベーシックなHoney Drip は１５０キロカロリーだそうです(ちなみにクリスピークリームのグレーズドーナッツは２００キロカロリーです。）ドーナツの種類も、日によりますが、２０種類くらいあるようです。Gozenさんが６種類違うフレーバーを選んで来てくれたので、今日はアプリコットを食べました♪　Gozenさんありがとう！！

Tea Chiffon Cake / 紅茶シフォンケーキ

Chiffon Cake with whipped cream and heart-shaped strawberries. Wow...this chiffon cake is amazing!!! I could like cupcakes more if the sponge is soft and airy＾＾

Casa Arigato

紅茶シフォンケーキをオーダーしたら、ホイップクリームと一緒にハート形の苺が一緒に添えられてきた。ここのシフォンケーキは本当に美味しい！！！カップケーキも、シフォンケーキみたいに柔らかくてふわふわしていたら好きになれるのになぁ＾＾

Strawberry Cupcake @ Susie Cakes / スージーケーキのストロベリーカップケーキ

最近テレビでCupcake Warなんかをよく見るので、カップケーキが食べたくて食べたくて。

気になるカップケーキ屋さん、"Susie Cakes"があったので行ってみる。

丁度行った時は、ケーキのデコレーションのクラスが行われていて、店内で写真撮影なんかをしてにぎやかだった。とってもおしゃれな店内に並んだパステル調のカップケーキは、見ているだけでわくわくする。迷いつつもストロベリーカップケーキに決定。ストロベリー味のフロスティングめちゃ甘い＾＾；スポンジは、私はもっちり系が好き。

I've been watching a TV show called "Cupcake Wars" and it makes me crave for cupcakes.

I happened to be in an area where Susie Cupcakes is located so decided to score cupcakes.

The store was hosting a cake decoration class when I was there so there were full of students trying to get a group photo with their cupcakes. Fun! All the colorful pastel cupcakes made me wanna have them all but I chose a strawberry cupcake. The strawberry frosting was very sweet!
