Flat Flowers / お花スティッカー♡
Last Feburary, I visited Rjork. When we were shopping, I found super cute flower stickers on the window. Rjork remembered about my excitement and she sent two stickers after I came back to the states. I couldn't make up my mind where to stick the second sticker but I finally found a spot for the sticker in the kitchen. It brightens up the space...it seems that I can never get enough of flatflowers♡
２月にオランダに遊びに行った時に、ひとめぼれしたお花のスティッカー。親愛なるRjorkちゃんがオランダから２種類も送ってくれた♪ １枚は早速貼ったのだけど、もう１枚は貼る所を考えて、結局貼らずじまい。もったいないから、今日台所の窓に貼ってみる。う〜ん、かわいい・・・♡何枚あっても足りないかも・・・♡

Oh Joy RX Workshop in West LA / Oh Joyのプロダクトラインワークショップに参加するの巻
昨日は、毎日欠かさず読んでいるBlogの筆者JoyさんのWorkshopに参加するために、
メルローズのBorder Styloまで行きました。
Yesterday I went to Border Stylo in Melrose to attend a product line workshop hosted by Joy who is a graphic designer / writer of Oh Joy blog which I check on every day basis.
７時からのスタートに遅れたくなかったので、張り切って早く出発したのですが、
６時には到着してしまい、１時間待つ事に。
I didn't want to be late for the workshop so I left work early but I ended up getting there one hour earlier than I thought.
１５人のアーティスト、ジュエリーデザイナー、セラミックアーティスト、ファッションデザイナー、グラフィックデザイナー、ビジネスをスタートしたい女性が集まって、ワークショップがスタート。
There were 15 ladies and there were a fine artist, an event planner, jewelry designers, a fashion designer, a stylist, an interior designer, graphic designers and also entrepreneurs.
Joyさんの経歴から始まり、実際に自分の製品を作って、売る過程を丁寧にお話してくれました。たくさんの質問があったので、２時間の予定だったワークショップは３時間に延長に。彼女の個人的な経験を聞けるとても貴重な経験だった。
It started with Joy's story of her background and she walked us through how to create own products and bring them to the market. Since so many questions were asked and we were able to hear lots of her personal experience.
Joyさんも言っていましたが、同じ業界で同じように自分の夢を実現しようとしている人達のお互いへの応援は大きな支えになると思う。
Joy mentioned the importance of having a support system organized by people who are in the same creative field to make your dreams come true.
JoyさんのPositiveなエネルギーと輝くオーラと、参加していた皆さんに刺激を受けた夜になった。頑張るぞ〜。
I was very inspired by the Joy's positive outlook and her aura as well as the ladies who participated in the workshop.
写真は撮らなかったのですが、Joyさんがお土産に持ってきてくれたカップケーキの写真は撮りました。スポンジがもちっとしていて、クリームはしょっぱ甘い新しい感じで美味。サイズも普通のカップケーキよりも小さいので、食べやすく丁度良かった。
ハリウッドとロングビーチにお店があるみたいなので、近々行ってみたいなぁ。
I didn't take any photos at the event but I took some photos of a souvenir from Joy. It's a cupcake from a place called "frosted cupcakery." There were actually two cupcakes in the box but I ate other one (red velvet) last night. The texture of the sponge is bouncy and the cream is salty and sweet. It's smaller than the ones that you usually see at some store so I think it's a good size if you don't want to get full from eating sweets. They have stores in Hollywood area and long beach so I would like to try again soon.

Flat Flowers and Cat
早速Rjorkちゃんに頂いたFlatFlowerスティッカーを台所側の窓に貼ってみました。いつもはブラインドを閉め切っているけれど、花を見たいのであける事が多くなりそうです。
お向かいのネコちゃんが右側の窓からこちらを見ています・・・にゃお。
I put the FlatFlower sticker from Rjork on a kitchen window. I don't really open the window blind but I will probably open more so I can see the flower. Can you see a cat in the right side window? Meaw...

Animal Motif Logo
I saw a couple of flying seagulls this afternoon when I was in a parking lot of some shopping plaza. They were flying by palm trees and all of the sudden one image appeared in my head. It was a logo of a clothing brand, HOLLISTER. mmm....what other companies are using animals/birds as their logo motifs to represent their corporate brand identities? Here they are. I found a bunch. Most of them I could think of were clothing companies. These logo uses simplified shapes of animals/birds that could be identified what they are even the size become half an inch. *From left to right, (row 1) A&F, Mobil, WWF, California, KIRIN, Paul Frank, (row 2) EVERNOTE, Tiger Balm, Penguin, PLAYBOY, Bull Dog, MGM GRAND, (row 3) PAPYRUS, LACOSTE, HOLLISTER, Nestle, Puma, NBC.

Like A Rock Star ☆
It is interesting to say that when I got home, it felt like as if I just came back from my favorite rock band's live concert : )
A day passed and I can still recall most of the stories that were told by Sean Adams and his wonderful team. The reason is because they are simply very good story tellers. Their stories felt genuine, touching, and insightful. Oh boy, they really know how to communicate themselves both visually and verbally. Amazing people...!
I have been using Sean's Logo Design Workbook as my design process bible for a while. It's such a great book that I always go back to and remind myself of what are the essentials for good visual communication. Last night was so unreal. I felt so privilege to be at the studio and experienced the live version of the book : ) Thank you AIGA! Thank you AdamsMorioka! You are my rock star.

Studio Tour at AdamsMorioka
I just came back from an AIGA event at AdamsMorioka studio. It turned out to be such an inspiring night. I will talk more about the event tomorrow. Good night!
