Origami Rose /

One of the things that I enjoy at a Japanese hair salon is to read Japanese magazines. They usually cost more than twice as their cost in Japan, I can't but that often so when I'm at a hair salon, I would go through as many magazines I can. There were cute pages of new style origami art. Simple me is always attracted and excited when I see paper magic. Here are a photo of my first Origami Rose. Looks more like carnation?

Origami by midori /

Midori is a stationary brand that is producing lots of cute products and they have been attacking my sweet spots for cute stationary. All the products on their website makes me wanna have!!

Recent found Origami series makes me feel like fainting.

They have a variety of cute and modern patterns and show you really cool ways to fold the origami for different
occasions like setting up tables for dinner parties and wrapping gifts. At this point, my heart has been completely melt by the overloaded cuteness.

Origami at home on a rainy day

It's been raining all day today in Los Angeles. I would like to give a big applause to LA marathon participants. Hope you will stay warm and stay away from cold...
Here is a snap shot of colorful leaves on the ground.

Today I went to a Japanese store called ''Bunka do" in downtown LA in the rain.

Bunkado, Inc.
340 East First Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012
(213) 625-1122

Here is their online store:

There are a variety of Japanese cultural products at the store
and I really enjoyed shopping♪

Origami
At the store, I finally found all in red origami paper and I got excited.
Also I was intrigued by"Origami" by midori (famous Japanese stationary company)
because the paper pattern was colorful polka dots and it comes with how to fold papers
in 9 different ways so I purchased these two.
I am very vulnerable to these kind of modern paper products.

I am going to keep folding cranes with love for Japan.
I will probably make some red crane mobiles and give them to my friends.

Red Crane Origami Mobile

Last Sunday was such a nice spring day and I was visiting Glendale where I had lived for 4 years. I kind of miss certain things about the area such as unique local stores and coffee shops. One of the stops I made was at a boutique called The Lake in Silverlake. I didn't buy anything (I couldn't buy anything) but I enjoyed the selection of their products. One thing that caught my eyes at the boutique was a product that was not for sale. It was a mobile with red cranes attached to a string hanging from a ceiling. It was so graceful. Ever since I saw the mobile, I kept on thinking about the beauty of the red cranes and thought of making one for my home. Instead of plain red origami paper, I found a sheet of red gift wrap paper that has white polka dots on it so used it to create 5 cranes (1 big crane, 4 baby cranes.) Awww, I love the color and the structure of the origami crane...next step is to hang them from the ceiling. Maybe next weekend.
